In 2007 I wrote a blog article that made the case for stretching not being the best thing for you prior to working out or sports. Stretching after your event was best. Here's another great blog that makes the same case but with more recent science behind it. Anyone that works out, trains or physically active should read.
Warm up, do a light set then get into your workout. Warm down after exercise then stretch.
'nuff said. Click on the link and enjoy the article.
PS: Check out my new SportsInjuryTV blog on you tube. I'm still working on the audio levels and getting better at being on camera, but it's a cool venue and I think you'll like it. Subscribe to it because it will make me feel good!
